Optimism in New Construction Inches Upward, Louisville Neighborhoods

The National Association of Home Builders charts its members’ outlook towards business in the future. This index is something they use to make decisions on behalf of their membership. News out this month that this index has moved up for the first time in five months.

Optimism in new construction is starting to move higher.

The index is still very low but improvement could be a sign that while deals may be had in foreclosures (which are dominating the market just not to a great degree in Louisville real estate) buyers are aware of the uncertainty and extra hurdles involved in buying distressed properties and are, therefore, more inclined to purchase new construction.

As of this post, there are 658 listings for new construction in Greater Louisville MLS; 387 of those are outside of Jefferson County. Below are some of the subdivisions with a good number of new construction homes for sale here in Louisville.
