Kentucky Tax Credit May Get Extension

While the Federal tax credit has expired, there are some Kentucky lawmakers working to extend the state $5,000 tax credit on new homes.

The credit is due to expire July 26, but there will likely be an opportunity to extend it through the end of the year when the General Assembly is called back later this month to deal with the state budget.

“I think the chances are pretty good,” said Sen. Gary Tapp, R-Shelbyville, although he added that passage would depend on House and Senate leaders agreeing on an overall budget.
