When in Louisville, dress like a Louisvillian! Make sure to visit Elizabeth’s Timeless Attire. What a great name for shop!

Design*Sponge, the best design blog evah, has just posted its Louisville City Guide! Among the hot spots are places for your last minute Derby needs for your home, yourself and for entertaining out of town guests.

For those last minute Derby party accessories or hostess gifts, try Scout and Hudson Home, both on Market St., or 2023 on Frankfort Ave. I will admit my bias to Hudson Home, my friend Andrew is the owner, and he has an amazing collection of “green” furniture and other goodies like candles and pillows. And if you like mid-century modern style, you’ll want to visit 2023 often!

For the perfect finishing touches for your Oaks/Derby ensemble, Dandelion on Lexington Rd. has fun, unique jewelry. Vintage is always in at Elizabeth’s Timeless Attire on Frankfort Ave. I ended up with two Derby hats once while shopping here, they were both so cute I couldn’t choose! And Why Louisville on Bardstown Rd. is perfect for souvenirs, t-shirts, hats, etc.

Since it wouldn’t be Louisville without the local restaurants, don’t forget to try The Blind Pig on Washington St. if you haven’t yet, it’s a charmer, and North End Cafe on Frankfort Ave. is a good place for brunch and people watching! And get your caffeine fix at Heine Brothers (various locations around town).

So exciting to see our Louisville businesses get some love on a national level like Design*Sponge! And don’t forget if you plan to visit these or others mentioned, call ahead and check hours, they may be different for Derby weekend!
